Feeling Grateful
Raindrops freckle my windshield like dotted Swiss fabric,
Just enough to need the wipers to do their sweeping magic,
The swishing of the wipers creates a low squeaking sound,
Adding to the water splattering rhythm of the rain
earthbound,
It is a rainy day in winter, cool with low gray skies,
But the seat warmer is keeping warm my backside and my
thighs,
My lunch is in a bag on the seat right beside of me,
And I am thinking of how fortunate I truly must be,
Soon to be sitting on the couch, enjoying a warm meal,
Watching a rainy-day movie, it really is surreal,
I have shelter and warmth from the cold,
I have food, prepared for me, truth be told,
I have comfort in my lovely little home,
I have transportation to take me wherever I can roam,
I am feeling thankful for this gray and rainy day,
And because I have all these things, I begin to pray,
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the rain,
Thank you for providing for me. I really can’t complain,
Help me always to be grateful and never take for granted,
The seeds of loving kindness that You have gently planted,
If I harvest from those seeds, and I give them away to
others,
I can grow a garden of hope among my sisters and my brothers.
