At Home with the Herd
Pete, the pot-bellied pig, thought he was a cow,
He bedded with the herd, not with a sow,
He was too hard to catch; He was quite elusive,
He couldn’t be caught; That was conclusive,
He had quite the personality, this pig we named Pete,
But the cow-owner did not find him so sweet,
“Pete has to go!”: the directive was clear,
But how to catch Pete?
That was our fear,
He was a fun-loving “cow”, on our farm he did roam,
We wanted to find him a pig-friendly home,
The animal shelter would not take him in,
Countless futile phone calls: our patience wore thin,
Then a pig-loving family wanted him for a pet,
Which is great news, but we hadn’t caught him yet!
Try, after try, the chase was on to catch Pete,
But ultimately, we had to concede defeat,
Pete the Pig was the fastest cow ever,
And Pete was also incredibly clever,
Abandoned by his original owners, he had found,
A home among cattle, who liked having him around.
